"GENERAL ANDREW PICKENS"

TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 2025 - 7:00 P.M.

LAURENS COUNTY MUSEUM

116 SOUTH PUBLIC SQUARE

LAURENS, SOUTH CAROLINA 29360

Continuing with the American Revolutionary War Series, Durant Ashmore, Battlefield Preservationist and Historian, will be speaking on General Andrew Pickens, known as “The Wizard Owl,” for his smarts and negotiation skills during the Anglo-Cherokee War.

During the American Revolution, Pickens became one of the most significant leaders of patriot forces in the South Carolina backcountry. He initially served as a militia company commander for the Ninety Six District and campaigned against loyalists in late 1775. Pickens also played a crucial role during the Battle of Cowpens known as the turning point of the Revolutionary War in the South.

The public is invited. Attendance is free to Museum members and youth.

There is a suggested $5 donation for others for museum support
