"GIVING TUESDAY CHALLENGE"

Updated: Nov 25, 2023

Dear Friends of The Laurens County Museum:

The Museum has FANTASTIC news to share! Next Tuesday, November 28, 2023 is “Giving Tuesday” which is declared as the Global Day of Giving. To kick off the season of giving, a very generous supporter has offered to match all donations between now and December 28, 2023. The Supporter has graciously offered a donation match up to $10,000!! With that noted challenge, the Museum needs to raise $10,000 before the end of the year to unlock this matching gift - a total of $20,000! $2,500 has already been raised towards the $10,000 and the Museum only needs $7,500 more to reach this goal.

At The Laurens County Museum, the Board, Staff and Volunteers consider it an honor and privilege to preserve the history and stories of Laurens County. It is a trust that we all take seriously and is impossible to do without the continued support of donors, members, friends and the volunteers. The Museum has grown and accomplished so much because of people like yourself, who have given of your time, money and support to keep our doors open so that the preservation of history and stories of the people of Laurens County can be told.

The Museum has had wonderful opportunities in 2023 to tell the stories of the Revolutionary War in Laurens County and partnering with the PAIA Lower Eastern Cherokee Nation to celebrate Native American Traditions of the past and present. In 2024, the Museum anticipates the opening of new exhibits such as a Quilting Exhibit of Laurens County quilters, the Life of Miss Martha Franks Exhibit, enhancement of the Native American Artifact Collection and so much more.

Will you join us in this endeavor of preserving the past? The preservation of history sustains our cultural identity as a people. Our modern lives are a continuation of our heritage, and we are privilege to recognize that at Your Laurens County Museum.

The Museum is certain that there could be questions about your donations, with that here are several ways to make you tax-deductible donation and with the guarantee to receive a written acknowledgement of your donation:

- Museum website: www.LaurensCountyMuseum.org ;

- Museum Facebook page at the Giving Tuesday fundraiser;

- Call the museum and donate over the phone (864-681-3678);

- Stop by the Museum Office or mail in a check. (PO Box 932, Laurens SC, 29360);

- Be sure to share with your friends!

An avenue that has been noted by several is that some of you might want to consider is for your yearly required minimum distribution from your IRA as a tax-free option to meet your requirements. It is also a wonderful way to honor or remember a loved one. However you choose to help, please accept our gratitude in advance for any and all gifts. The Laurens County Museum could not do this without you!

On Behalf of The Laurens County Museum Board of Directors,

Teresa Noble, President
